The ground was described as good to firm, good in places on Sunday and favourable weather is forecast for the next few days.
Clerk of the course Jon Pullin said: "We've been watering since Friday with temperatures up to 25C on Saturday and the same today.
"Temperatures then drop to the high teens or low twenties for the early part of the week and it becomes more unsettled with some showers forecast. But from Thursday it is set to be dry again.
"We'd like to start on good ground or slightly faster, and with temperatures dropping we're hopeful we can achieve what we want."
