Back-to-back victories for Arabian Gleam
REPORT: PARK STAKES, Saturday
ARABIAN GLEAM returned to form by landing the Group 2 National Express Park Stakes for the second year running.
Johnny Murtagh may have had a forgettable St Leger but this Jeremy Noseda-trained horse travelled well for him in mid-division and ran on gamely, despite putting his head in the air when asked for his effort.
Major Cadeaux, the 5-4 favourite, was backed like defeat was out of the question but could never quite overhaul the Arabian Gleam, finishing second for a luckless Ryan Moore.
Al Qasi ran on well to take third place for Peter Chapple-Hyam and Frankie Dettori at 11-2.
Murtagh felt that his mount hadn't quite managed his best this season because of the penalty he had to carry for winning this race last year.
He said: "He's a grand little horse but he's just been struggling all year with a Group 2 penalty, but Jeremy had him spot on today."
