Callan sweet on Senor Mirasol chances

NEIL CALLAN is sweet on the chance of Senor Mirasol in the Polypipe Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster on Friday.

The Deportivo colt is one of two runners for trainer Kevin Ryan, who also saddles Madame Trop Vite.

Senor Mirasol claimed a lucrative third place in the Super Sprint this season but posted a career-best effort when winning the Listed Tipperary Stakes on his most recent outing.

Callan said: "He won really well at Tipperary last time and he's a very quick horse. He seems to be improving very quickly and the soft ground will suit him ideally. He appears to have a good draw and I'm looking forward to it."

Doncaster Rover will bid to give trainer Stewart Parr a local success. The colt is owned by a syndicate that includes staunch supporters of theChampionship football club.

After finishing runner-up on his debut in the Brocklesby on Town Moor in March, Doncaster Rover got off the mark in good style at Chester's May meeting but has not been seen since.

"He put on a bit of a growth spurt so we've given him a bit more time to develop as I think he'll be a nice horse," explained Parr.

"We were always going to come here if we could. He's in good form and he's done well physically.

"We've done what we can at home with him and we are hopeful of a good run from him."
