Honolulu shows his true colours for Team O'Brien

REPORT: DONCASTER CUP, Friday

HONOLULU justified 15-8 favouritism for the all-conquering Aidan O'Brien-Johnny Murtagh partnership in the Group 2 Doncaster Cup.

The Queen Alexandra hero answered any question marks surrounding his temperament with an authoritative display, to the delight of backers who followed the morning gamble on the four-year-old.

Neil Callan tried in vain to dictate matters from the front aboard Royal And Regal, but as their challenge began to fade Honolulu loomed upsides to take the race in dominant fashion.
A staying-on Balkan Knight nabbed the runner-up spot from a tiring Royal And Regal.

Murtagh, celebrating his fourth Doncaster Cup success, said: "He's a lovely horse andwon well.

"He's been working well and Aidan has been delighted with him."

Paddy Power were suitably impressed and cut Honolulu from 25s to 20-1 for the Melbourne Cup.
