Punters latch on to Pipe in Cheltenham finale
CHELTENHAM'S Paddy Power Gold Cup meeting kicks off on Friday and it is the final race of the day (4.05) that is catching the eye of punters as the money continues to come for Alderluck.
Trained by David Pipe, Alderluck opened up at 12-1 with bet365 on Thursday evening (7-1 generally) but his odds have tumbled and he is now no bigger than 7-2 for victory with bet365 making him a 100-30 chance.
Pipe sent out Swing Bill to take the 3m½f amateur riders' handicap chase and his father Martin won it in 2002 and 2005.
The other runner attracting attention at Cheltenham is the Nicky Henderson-trained River Maigue in the Grade 2 novice hurdle (2.25).
The five-year-old, a winner at Ayr in April, is into 7-2 (from 5) with Coral, 7-2 (from 9-2) with William Hill and 4-1 (from 5) with BetVictor.
Elsewhere, Saucy Brown has been cut to make a winning debut for Kevin Ryan in the 2.10 at Lingfield.
He is 7-2 (from 8) with Betfred, 9-2 (from 9) with BetVictor, 5-1 (from 10) with bet365, 4-1 (from 7) with Ladbrokes and 9-2 (from 15-2) with Paddy Power.
