Horses trained in Sweden dominated the 1m4f Classic, filling the first six places. Trainer Francisco Castro saddled the first two home, with 16-1 chance Darcy (Manuel Martinez) holding off his stablemate Summertime by a head, with three lengths back to Zen Zansai Zaid in third.
The 5-2 favourite Buzz Lightyear finished fourth after he was unable to pick up in the soft ground while The Kicker failed to see out the trip and faded into 12th place.
Darcy, a Danroad half-brother to four other winners, has now won five of his eight career starts and also finished fourth behind The Kicker in the Danish 2,000 Guineas.
Darcy was always prominent behind the fast gallop set by Puyol before he was driven into the lead a furlong out. He held on gamely under pressure as the hard-ridden Summertime cut back the deficit.
Former Sir Michael Stoute apprentice Louis Beuzelin managed one winner from four rides on the card, partnering One Direction (Bent Olsen) to a decisive four-length success in the Derby consolation.
