Beresford Stakes aim for Sea The Stars

SEA THE STARS could bid to enhance his reputation in the Juddmonte Beresford Stakes at the Curragh in two weeks' time if the ground is suitable.

Trainer John Oxx has the Group 2 contest in mind for the Cape Cross half-brother to Galileo, who got off the mark at the second attempt at Leopardstown a month ago.

"He's waiting for better ground. He won his maiden on heavy ground but I wouldn't like to run him in a higher-class race on heavy ground," said the Currabeg-based handler.

"He's a fine big horse who's not fully furnished yet. I would not like to givehim a really hard race on testing ground.

"We'd like maybe to run him in the Beresford Stakes. I see the weather forecast is quite good for the second half of this week.

"We'd like to run him there if we could and the ground was good. If he doesn't run there we'd have to think again. He's in good shape and he'd be ready to go if the weather is right," Oxx told At The Races.
