Glor Na Mara to face six rivals in Futurity Stakes

GLOR NA MARA, who ran Zoffany close in the Group 1 Keeneland Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh this month, will face six rivals when he bids for a first win in the Group 2 Galileo EBF Futurity Stakes at the same track on Saturday.

The Jim Bolger-trained colt was making only his second appearance when runner-up in the Phoenix Stakes and will be attempting to emulate his trainer's Teofilo and New Approach, who won the 7f event in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

Glor Na Mara will be opposed by the Jessica Harrington-trained Pathfork, who created a big impression when landing a maiden over the course and distance by four lengths last month, beating subsequent Galway maiden winner Robin Hood, who is one of four Aidan O'Brien-trained colts declared for Saturday's race.

The Ballydoyle trainer, who has sent out seven winners of the race, will also be represented by High Ruler, Rudolf Valentino and Samuel Morse.

Longhunter, trained by Kevin Prendergast, completes the line-up for the race, which reverts to the Curragh having been staged at Fairyhouse a year ago when Cape Blanco was successful.

The going at the Curragh was described as " good to firm " on Friday morning following 2.6millimetres of rain overnight.
