Secrecy win banishes painful memories

SECRECY made amends for a painful first appearance on the racecourse by coming good at the second attempt in the £15,000 conditions stakes for two-year-olds.

He had been withdrawnafter kicking Philip Robinson on his intended debut at Sandown but was better behaved this time and got the better of Courageous by two and a quarter lengths despite running green in front.

"Hopefully he will go the right way now, he is just such a baby," Robinson said of Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum's juvenile. "Hopefully he will learn from that and come on again.

"He has been working quite nicely but he is immature and when he got to the front you could see he ran green but luckily he was good enough to overcome it."

Bryan Smart will aim the staying-on runner-up, who was conceding the winner 7lb, at the 2,000 Guineas but odds-on favourite Midnight Cruiser is set to revert to 6f after managing only fourth place.

Wasan isa 20-1 shot for the Cambridgeshire (from 33-1) with sponsors Totesport after short-heading Allied Powers in the 1m2f handicap.

"He came back wrong from Newmarket last time and the ground was too firm," said trainer Ed Dunlop. "The ground is the key to him. He is in the Cambridgeshire and that would be a possibility."
