Leicester's meeting abandoned due to frost

LEICESTER'S meeting scheduled for Tuesday as been abandoned due to frost.

Clerk of the course, Jimmy Stevenson, said "We're off, it got down to -9c here last night, and it's only -7c now. The ground is frozen solid and we've got no chance."

The abandonment means jump racing fans will be starved of action again, with Tuesday's other National Hunt meeting at Taunton called off on Sunday, and only Wolverhampton's all-weather meeting left standing on Monday.

Hexham has abandoned its fixture for Wednesday after an inspection on Monday, with snow the problem, meaning that the next possible jumps racing actioncould be at Southwell on Wednesday.

However, that meeting is subject to an inspection on Monday at 12pm.
