Cork All Star warms up for return to hurdling

CORK ALL STAR returns to action at Listowel on Saturday when he warms up for a return to hurdling, under Mark Fahey, in the final race of the festival, the 1m6f Slan Abhaile Flat Race for amateur riders.

Winner of four bumpers, including the Weatherbys Champion Bumper at the 2007 Cheltenham Festival, the Jessica Harrington-trained six-year-old failed to win after scoring on his hurdling debut at Fairyhouse in October.

He faces 11 rivals on his first start since he unseated his rider three out in the VCbet.com Champion Novice Hurdle at Punchestown in April, and his trainer said onFriday: "I'm happy with Cork All Star. He's come back a stronger horse and Listowel is an ideal stepping stone with the Grade 2 Hurdle at Tipperary on October 5 in mind."
