Germany: Red Duke, who finished down the field in the Qipco 2,000 Guineas, will try his hand at the German equivalent atCologne on Monday with connections hopeful of a good performance in ideal conditions.
Trained by John Quinn, the three-year-old won the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket last season, and after finishing fifth in the UAE Derby atMeydan, was 11th at Newmarket last month behind Camelot.
A quote on Quinn's website read: "Red Duke will head to Germany tomorrow [Friday] afternoon ahead of his scheduled run in the German 2,000 Guineas [Group 2 Mehl Mulhens-Rennen] on Monday.
"He is very well in himself and as the ground in Germany has been drying out significantly we have decided to let him take his chance.
"His work at home is pleasing and his weight is very good so I am hopeful that we will finally get to see him show his true form as he should encounter ideal conditions for the first time in a while."
