Galway calls off Tuesday and Wednesday cards

OFFICIALS at Galway have been forced to cancel today's meeting with the track currently waterlogged in places.

The course has been hit by a substantial amount of rain overnight and with the track unraceable, officials were left with little option but to call off the card.

Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: "Today's meeting at Galway has been cancelled as the track is waterlogged in places.

"There has been over 20 millimetres of rain overnight and this morning."

Galway was also due to race on Wednesday, however, with conditions failing to improve and more rain forecast, officials have now taken the decision to abandon Wednesday's meeting.

Noone added: "They have now abandoned tomorrow's meeting as well as today's.

"The course is still waterlogged and there is another 20 millimetres of rain forecast for today and tomorrow."
