THE new all-weather track at Chantilly will be christened by the country's top-rated horse, after trainer Corine Barande-Barbe announced that Cirrus Des Aigles will run in the Dubai World Cup trial at his local track on March 3.
The now six-year-old clinched the Cartier Award for leading older horse with a two-length defeat of So You Think in the QIPCO Champion Stakes at Ascot in October, before enjoying no luck in running on his final start in the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong Cup.
"He's really very well," reported Barande-Barbe. "Every morning he's a handful, he's ready for action."
Cirrus Des Aigles will in all likelihood have to concede plenty of weight all round in the Prix Meydan Hotel over 1m1½f, one of three conditions races spread over Chantilly's first two all- weather cards framed for horses being prepared for World Cup night.
Her stable star is yet to race at Meydan and, regarding a specific target, Barande-Barbe is keeping an open mind for a horse effective over a wide range of trips.
"He's entered in the Dubai World Cup, the Duty Free and the Sheema Classic, and we'll make a decision nearer the time, but we really plan to go to Dubai because the horse is in cracking form," she added.
