Longchamp: Qatar Prix Dollar (Group 2) 1m2f, 3yo+
CIRRUS DES AIGLES warmed up for his clash with Frankel in the Qipco Champion Stakes at Ascot in two weeks with an impressive victory in the Prix Dollar at Longchamp.
Trained by Corine Barande-Barbe, Cirrus Des Aigles finished second in the Dollar last year, but went one better on Saturday, repeating his 2010 victory in the race.
He was given a super-cool ride by Olivier Peslier, who settled the six-year-old in fourth before the pair gained command to run out easy winners.
Godolphin's Hunter's Light claimed second with Saga Dream third. The John Gosden-trained Colombian was fourth.
It was Cirrus Des Aigles' first run since May when he finished second in the Prix d'Ispahan, although he was subsequently disqualified after testing positive for a prohibited substance.
The Champion Stakes, which he won 12 months ago, has long been his main target this term and he will face Frankel, officially rated the only Flat horse better him.
"I'm really happy," said Barande-Barbe. "It's been hard for me these last few months, although not for him. That'll put him spot on for Ascot and Frankel."
Paddy Power trimmed the son of High Top to 5-1 (from 6) for the Champion Stakes, while William Hill went 6-1 (from 8). The mighty Frankel, unbeaten in 13, is 1-10 with both firms.
