Chil ices Chantilly opposition for Morrison

Report: France, Friday

Chantilly: Prix du Ranelagh (Listed) 1m, 3yo+

HUGHIE MORRISON continued his fine recent run with runners in France when Chil The Kite (Umberto Rispoli) ran down Sulle Orme to land this Listed contest in good style.

Having won a similar race at Saint-Cloud a week ago before saddling Shirocco Star to finish second in the Group 2 Prix de Royallieu on Saturday, Morrison hauled in another €26,000 as Chil The Kite followed up his sixth-placed effort in last month's Betfred Cambridgeshire.

"He's a nice horse who might be better over a mile and a quarter and we were just wondering whether it might be a bit sticky out there," said part-owner Graham Doyle.

"He's a horse that can quicken but, as you saw there, he loves a fight like all Notnowcatos."

Also on Friday

Chantilly: Prix Eclipse (Group 3) 6f, 2yo

Among the British raiders elsewhere on the card there was no luck for either Jadanna or Lewisham as Penny's Picnic (Didier Guillemin/Thierry Jarnet) returned to form.

"He didn't run his race at all last time in the Morny but he'd had five races by then so we gave him a break," said part-owner Thierry Delegue.

"The obvious race is the Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte but we'll see how he is. He's had six races already and he'll be one to look forward to for next year's Prix Djebel."
