Chepstow optimistic after missing snow

CHEPSTOW'S Coral Welsh National meeting escaped the worst of the weather on Thursday night to leave staff optimistic of racing on Saturday.

Chepstow's clerk of the course Keith Ottesen said: "There is snow around everywhere but the closer it got to Chepstow it turned to rain. We had 6mm of rain this morning and it has now stopped. The course has taken it well.  It is due to warm up now to 8C and we could have up to 10mm of rain overnight but we'll take that."

The going is soft on both tracks.
