Olofi goes one better for George and Brennan
Report: Cheltenham, Sunday
Racing Post Hurdle (Handicap) (Grade 3) 2m1/2f, 4yo+
OLOFI, runner-up in the race last year, went one better for Tom George and Paddy Brennan, despite being left badly short of room entering the home straight.
In a typically competitive renewal of the race the field were tightly bunched from the outset, with One Cool Shabra, Bothy, Moon Dice and Domination all prominent early on.
There were no major jumping errors to report through the first half of the race as the field made full use of the width of the track in a search of better ground.
One Cool Shabra and Bothy still held sway with three to jump, but travelling downhill the challengers began to emerge, including Prospect Wells, Cash And Go and Olofi.
Turning into the home straight, Danny Cook came wide off the bend on Bothy leaving Brennan, who had come round wider on Olofi, briefly sandwiched against the rail.
However, the interference mattered little in the end as Brennan switched inside and charged up the hill on his 8-1 mount for victory.
Trainer Tom George said: "He's had more bad luck stories than good and I'm just so happy for the horse. He's talented and he could still be improving.
"It's a longshot for the Champion Hurdle but I think he would go with any horse to the second last in a Champion. What would happen after that - who knows? "
