Cheltenham's temporary stand for the Open meeting
Cheltenham installs temporary stand
CHELTENHAM is ready for the Open meeting - its first major fixture of the season - after installing the temporary Arkle Stand, which will be used up to this season's Festival in March as redevelopment at the course continues.
The facility will replace two A&R buildings, which were brought down this summer in preparation for the development, scheduled to be finished by 2016.
The three-day meeting - which features the Paddy Power Gold Cup on Saturday - starts on Friday and officials at the track hope the new stand will result in improved customer experience.
At an estimated £45m, the project will be The Jockey Club's largest single investment in facilities. Nearly £25m was raised towards the funding of the work through a retail bond, the first of its kind in British sport. The remainder of the capital will be funded through cashflow, commercial agreements and bank financing.
