CLERK of the course Simon Claisse, who on Sunday changed the going at Cheltenham to good to soft from soft, good to soft in places on both the hurdle and chase courses, remains unperturbed by the threat of wintry showers in the build up to the festival, which starts in nine days' time.
Although no rain has fallen at the track since last Monday, unsettled weather, including overnight frosts and even the possibility of snow, is forecast for later in the week.
Claisse said: "The forecast suggests it will stay dry until Wednesday, but unsettled Wednesday, Thursday and Friday with showers, some of which may be wintry on Friday night.
"There are a couple of overnight frosts forecast for before Wednesday, but they are not expected to be too bad and we are expecting day-time temperatures of 7C and 8C."
Having predicted snow for three days this week a day earlier, theweatheroutlook.com 16-day forecast was updated on Sunday to forecast snow at the course on Saturday only.
The going remains good to soft, soft in places on the cross-country course.
