Darlan: 9-2 to win the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival

Champion contenders confirmed for Doncaster

DONCASTER will host a mini Champion Hurdle on Monday after Darlan, Rock On Ruby and Countrywide Flame were declared to contest the track's Listed 32Red Hurdle.

Impressive Christmas Hurdle winner Darlan is shortest of the trio for the Stan James Champion Hurdle and is second only to Hurricane Fly in the betting at 9-2.

He was aimed at Sandown's Contenders Hurdle on Saturday, but that race was abandoned so trainer Nicky Henderson has switched his attention to Doncaster's meeting, which has replaced the Southwell fixture schemed for Monday.

Like Darlan, last year's Champion Hurdle winner Rock On Ruby was engaged at Sandown and he too heads to Doncaster.

He is around the 8-1 mark to retain his Champion crown, while 20-1 is available about Countrywide Flame, who captured the Triumph Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last season.

Clerk's Choice completes the four-runner line-up.
