Bostons Angel unlikely to run in the Gold Cup

BOSTONS ANGEL is unlikely to run in the Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup after finishing only sixth of the seven runners when second favourite for the Hennessy Gold Cup at Leopardstown on Sunday.

The eight-year-old's trainer Jessica Harrington said on Monday: "Bostons Angel was fine this morning but it's unlikely that he will run in the Gold Cup.

"You could say that the Hennessy was his first real race this season and he just ran a bit rusty.

"We'll look at running him in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on February 25 and he could be a horse for the Ladbrokes.com Irish Grand National."

Bostons Angel, 50-1 with bet365 for the Gold Cup, was a triple Grade 1 winner as a novice last season when his victories included the RSA Chase at Cheltenham.
