Mann prepares Nadover for Czech marathon
CHARLIE MANN, who rode under a Czech licence to win the 1995 Velka Pardubicka on Its A Snip, is to saddle Nadover in this year's contest on October 12.
The Upper Lambourn trainer has always regarded French-bred Nadover as an ideal type for the gruelling Pardubice race, run on a ploughed field and featuring the dreaded Taxis fence, one of the most daunting injump racing.
Mann said: "We are taking a strong team to Pardubice this year. As a 140-rated horse, Nadover will be the best we've ever run in the Velka, while I'm also taking Flight Command and Alphabetical for the two-and-three-quarter-mile chase, and Poseidon's Secret for one of the hurdle races there."
Nadover will be ridden by Mann's stable jockey Noel Fehily, and the trainer added: "He ran a blinder to finish seventh in the Grand National and I'm very hopeful he can deliver the goods next month.
"I always thought 'Snippy' would win it and he won it under me, as well as finishing second under Richard Dunwoody. He was a standing dish at the Pardubice, butNadover is definitely the best I'll havetaken over there."
