Enderby, formerly lieutenant of the Queen's Body Guard of the Yeoman of the Guard, has been appointed LVO in the Royal Victorian Order, a dynastic order of knighthood and a house order of chivalry recognising distinguished personal service to the order's sovereign.

Enderby, who lives at Hexham, told the Racing Post on Friday: "I am obviously very, very pleased and we had a bottle of champagne to celebrate last night.

"I was notified about the honour about afortnight ago, and though I have not yet been told when I am required to go to Buckingham Palace to receive it, I would imagine it will probably be in March or April."
