Watchmakers Longines to sponsor Prix de Diane
France: Watchmakers Longines have been announced as the new sponsors of the Prix de Diane, which will be run at Chantilly on June 12.
France's most glamorous race meeting has once again attracted a high-class partner for the Classic which had previously been sponsored by the cosmetic company Revlon before fashion group Hermes took over from 1983 to 2007.
Announcing the partnership in Paris on Tuesday, chairman Walter Von Kanel said: "Longines will now become the official timekeeper at Longchamp, Chantilly and Deauville. It will be a long-term partnership."
There will be no immediate increase in the Diane prize-money which France Galop increased to €850,000 earlier in the year.
Longines have been associated with equine events for 90 years and already have other partnerships with the Melbourne Cup Carnival, the Singapore Turf Club, Churchill Downs, Dubai World Cup meeting at Meydan and Royal Ascot.
They are also official timekeepers at several top show jumping events and other sports such as skiing, ice skating and gymnastics.
