Cathy Gannon suffers facial injury after fall
CATHY GANNON has suffered a suspected broken jaw after falling from a horse on Saturday morning.
Cathy Gannon: fall when riding out
PICTURE: Edward WhitakerGannon was riding work for trainer Eve Johnson Houghton when her foot slipped from an iron and she was thrown to the floor.
Johnson Houghton said: "She was riding work and came off at speed. She hit the floor with her face unfortunately.
"I was out watching the work with a lot of the horse's owners and she came past with the horse going really well and then she was on the floor. I'm not sure what happened but I think it was a tack malfunction - it certainly wasn't the horse."
Gannon, who won the Lady Jockey Of The Year title at this year's Lesters and was due to ride at Nottingham on Saturday evening, only returned to riding last month after having six months on the sidelines with a broken leg.
She tweeted a picture of her swollen and blood-splattered face and added: "Not good I think I broke my jaw. Was riding out and I lost an iron. Gutted."
