WEDNESDAY'S race meetings at Ludlow and Carlisle are subject to 8am inspections but officials were on Tuesday afternoon backing their tracks to defy the cold.
Bob Davies, clerk of the course at Ludlow, said: "Our chances look a lot better than they did yesterday. We had no frost last night and are not due to get anything colder than 0C or -1C tonight. We will still hold an inspection just in case tonight is colder than expected."
Carlisle's inspection has been called due to the threat of frost on Tuesday night, with temperatures forecast to drop to between -2 and -3c.
The going at the course was described as soft on Tuesday morning, and all take-offs, landings and crossings have been covered since the weekend.
Clerk of the course Andrew Tulloch said: "We're fine and raceable. We're forecast to get down to -3C overnight with temperatures rising to 4C tomorrow. We should be all right, hopefully the inspection is just precautionary. It'll be great to get racing under way at Carlisle again."
