Captain strong favourite for Lincoln after draw
CAPTAIN BERTIE is 5-1 favourite for Saturday's rescheduled William Hill Lincoln at Doncaster after the draw for the traditional early-season handicap was made on Thursday morning.
Charlie Hills's well-backed five-year-old was allocated stall seven, not far away from the likely pace-setter Chosen Character, who will come out of box 13.
Hills said: "Captain Bertie is in good form. I am very happy with him."
Last year's winner Brae Hill goes from stall 19 for Richard Fahey, while Brian Ellison's Global Village, who has attracted support this week on the back of an upbeat bulletin from his trainer, received stall one.
Richard Thomas, head of PR for the sponsors, said: "The Lincoln is consistently one of the top betting races of the entire Flat season. Captain Bertie appears well drawn and we've cut him a point to 5-1 as a result."
