O'Brien chasing Gold Cup glory with Camelot
AIDAN O'BRIEN aims to continue his recent domination of the Group 1 Tattersalls Gold Cup with Camelot, who is long odds-on to give the trainer his fourth consecutive win in the race.
Last season's 2,000 Guineas, Derby and Irish Derby winner, Camelot returned to action as a four-year-old with a comfortable success in the Group 3 Mooresbridge Stakes earlier this month, and faces just three rivals, led by the Roger Charlton-trained Al KAzeem.
O'Brien said: "We were delighted to see Camelot come back from his colic surgery and win the Mooresbridge Stakes. We think he has come on nicely since that race and we're very happy with him. He will appreciate the quicker ground."
The Tattersalls Gold Cup is one of three Group races on the card at the Curragh, with Group 1 Etihad Airways Irish 1,000 Guineas the highlight. There is also classy Flat action at Longchamp, plus jumps racing from Fontwell, Kelso and Uttoxeter.
