Buthelezi has sights lowered at Catterick
BUTHELEZI, beaten in a Grade 1 in Ireland last time, bids to get back to winning ways at a much lower level at Catterick.
The John Ferguson-trained son of Dynaformer was fifth behind Champagne Fever in the Deloitte Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown.
He created a decent impression when winning on his hurdling debut at Aintree in December but has no entries at the Cheltenham Festival.
Formerly with John Gosden on the Flat, he is odds-on to beat his 15 rivals in Catterick's Class 4 2m3f novice hurdle, while Makethe Mostofnow also looks to hold a good chance in the novice chase.
His trainer Evan Williams said: "He ran well last time and the step up in trip will suit. He had a fall at Ffos Las which probably didn't help his confidence but he's been sharper since his run last time at Haydock.
"He's come out of that in exceptionally good form and if he handles the track, on the ratings he's got a very decent chance."
Leicester also races over jumps and Lingfield provides the all-weather action.
