Wetherby and Fontwell survive wet spell
TODAY'S meetings at Wetherby and Fontwell have been given the go-ahead leaving a bumper day of racing with 12 fixtures in Britain and Ireland.
The recent wet weather had threatened to obliterate the busiest day of the year but in the end only Huntingdon, who abandoned on Sunday, fell victim to the downpours.
Wetherby was due to inspect at 8.30am but officials cancelled the need for the check after 2mm of rain in the last 24 hours, while Fontwell got the all clear just before 8am.
The word 'heavy' appears in the vast majority of this morning's going reports including at Kempton where the day's feature contest, the William Hill King George, is due off at 3.10.
Wetherby: Heavy, soft in places
Ffos Las: Heavy
Market Rasen: Soft, heavy in places
