Brits have no answer
to awesome Morandi

MORANDI confirmed himself as a serious horse in heavy ground with an eased-down wide-margin victory with British runners Willie The Whipper and Miss You Too chasing him home in second and third.
Trained by Jean-Claude Rouget, Morandi had landed a Group 3 contest at Longchamp by 12 lengths on testing ground on his last outing and was ridden with extreme confidence by Maxime Guyon. And with good reason.
Tearaway leader Wingate had been caught as the runners prepared to turn into the straight where Guyon let Morandi loose and he quickly left his rivals standing.
From there he went further and further clear under urging from Guyon, who eased him mount right down and gave him a deserving pat down the neck.
Rouget said: "He showed his class the other day and he's proved it again today. There may be others that come along next year but he's going to be a high level three-year-old."
A long way back in second came Willie The Whipper on his first start for Qatar Racing. The Ann Duffield-trained runner had been trapped on the rail under Jamie Spencer but has no excuses as he was put firmly in his place by the winner.
However, he stuck to his task determindly and was a worthy second with Miss You Too, having just her second start for trainer David Simcock, plugging on for a narrow third.
George Duffield, husband of Ann Duffield, said: "If you take the winner out he'd have been a pretty comfortable winner. We have to be very pleased with our fella, it was a big step up in class."
