Furthest Land targets Dubai World Cup
USA: Connections of Furthest Land, 20-1 winner of the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile at Santa Anita last year, are eyeing the Dubai World Cup.
The five-year-old son of Smart Strike has worked three times in Florida in preparation for his winter campaign, which is likely to start back in California.
According to the Daily Racing Form, Furthest Land will return to Santa Anita to run in the Grade 2 San Pasqual Handicap on Saturday January 9. Like the misleadingly titled Dirt Mile, this is a race on the synthetic Pro-Ride strip.
"We hope he's good enough to go to Dubai for the World Cup," trainer Mike Maker told the Daily Racing Form.
