SPANISH MOON, who had been a best-priced 10-1 for the Breeders' Cup Turf at Churchill Downs, has been retired.
The Sir Michael Stoute-trained six-year-old won six of his 16 starts, including the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud, and nearly £1.8 million in win and place prize-money.
He has not been seen since finishing fourth to subsequent Irish St Leger winner Sans Frontieres in the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket in July.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, said: "Spanish Moon has been retired and won't be running at the Breeders' Cup."
