Breeders' Cup 2010 may be in Churchill Downs
REPORTS from the US suggest the Breeders' Cup will be heading back to Churchill Downs in 2010 after two years at Santa Anita in California.
The Kentucky Derby venue would be hosting the most prestigious day's racing in the States for the seventh time.
The news emanates from comments by New York Racing Association president Charles Hayward, who was asked at a press conference in Saratoga if Belmont was in the running for the Breeders' Cup. Hayward suggested he had been informed by Breeders' Cup president Greg Avioli that Churchill would be hosting the event in 2010.
If that is the case, the main track events will revert to dirt, having been run on a synthetic surface for the first time at Santa Anita, which hosts the Breeders' Cup this year and in 2009.
