Bolger targets French Guineas with Leitir Mor
LEITIR MOR, runner-up in the Dewhurst behind stablemate and Qipco 2,000 Guineas favourite Dawn Approach, has been given the French equivalent, the Poule d'Essai des Poulains, as an early season target.
Beaten nine lengths in third by Dawn Approach in the Goffs Vincent O'Brien Stakes last season, Leitir Mor narrowed the gap to two and three quarter lengths in the Dewhurst. However trainer Jim Bolger plans to keep the pair apart, with Longchamp, rather than Newmarket, Leitir Mor's intended destination.
He said: "He has done really well since last year and I see him as my French Guineas horse. He might have a run before then."
Bolger also had news on Trading Leather, who was last seen finishing fifth behind Investec Derby favourite Kingsbarns in the Racing Post Trophy at Doncaster.
"I see him as a Derby horse and there is a small chance that he might start off in the Craven Stakes," Bolger added.
Trading Leather is around the 25-1 mark for the Derby, with the Aidan O'Brien-trained Kingsbarns 4-1 market leader.
