Clonmel calls inspection before Sunday's meeting

THE Turf Club has announced that there will be an 8am inspection at Clonmel on Sunday before that afternoon's meeting due to the forecast of heavy rain.

The course was described as being raceable on Friday morning with the ground heavy.

Cliff Noone, Irish Turf Club press officer, said: "The forecast is not looking good. Clonmel are expecting rain on Friday evening and anything between 10mm-20mm on Saturday.

"They want to give the meeting every chance but the track would not take an awful lot more [rain]."

The prospects are looking much better for Navan's card on Saturday.

Noone added: "Navan is looking fine and the rain is expected to arrive during racing and not before.

"Punchestown, who race on Sunday, are fine at present but may choose to inspect on the morning of racing."
