Black Caviar camp confident of another win

CONNECTIONS of Black Caviar, the Australian sprint sensation who is dominating the build-up to Royal Ascot, are confident she will not surrender her unbeaten record in the Diamond Jubilee Stakes.

She is a red-hot favourite for the 6f Group 1 and Jeff O'Connor, racing manager to Black Caviar's trainer Peter Moody, expects her to stretch her winning run to 22 a week on Saturday.

Speaking at pre-Royal Ascot press conference in Newmarket on Thursday morning, he said: "We are not here to be beaten."

The ground at Ascot is described as soft and although clerk of the course Chris Stickels expects it to dry out for next week, some have questioned Black Caviar's ability to handle testing conditions.

O'Connor, however, has no concerns.

"We won't be using the ground as an excuse if she is beaten," he added. "She acted on heavy in a barrier trial a few years ago."
