Riverside Theatre 3-1 favourite for Bowl

CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL winner Riverside Theatre was on Friday made 3-1 favourite with the sponsors for Thursday's Betfred Bowl at Aintree.

Successful in the Ryanair Chase last month, Riverside Theatre features among 16 horses entered in the Grade 1 chase.

He could be joined by 4-1 second favourite and Nicky Henderson-trained stablemate Burton Port, as well as Ryanair third Medermit, who is a 6-1 chance with Betfred.

"Nicky Henderson looks set to have a strong hand in Thursday's Betfred Bowl with Riverside Theatre and Burton Port currently heading the market but Medermit could give them both something to think about with the step up in trip almost certain to suit," said Betfred spokesman George Primarolo.

All of the entries for the opening day of Aintree's three-day spectacular were revealed on Thursday and staying hurdling champion Big Buck's could face 11 rivals in the BGC Partners Liverpool Hurdle. He is 1-4 with Paddy Power, who make Smad Place 6-1.

Cheltenham Gold Cup fifth Time For Rupert is entered in both races. He is 14-1 with Betfred for the Bowl and 12-1 with Paddy Power for the Liverpool Hurdle.

"Time For Rupert will probably go for the Bowl at Aintree but we thought it was worth also giving him an entry in the Liverpool Hurdle as things can change," said trainer Paul Webber.

"We will consider the situation over the next few days and make a decision next week. He has been in tremendous form since Cheltenham and is really well."
