THE BHA hasannounced that Southwell will stage an additional 'bumpers for jumpers' fixture on Sunday.
Thursday will mark the third day in succession when no jumps racing has been able to take place in Britain and with further abandonments likelybefore Sunday, the BHA decided to take action.
"It's an indication of the need to provide opportunities for those horses that have missed out as a result of the cold snap," said BHA spokesman John Maxse on Wednesday.
A definitive decision will be made on Thursday as to whether Friday's scheduled jumps card at Kempton switches to an all-weather bumper card and the track is also set to stage an additional Flat all-weather card on Saturday.
Maxse added: "The additional meeting is to ensure we provide a minimum of two meetings but one would hope we would have four or possible five meeting."
Along with an upbeat bulletin from Newbury on Wednesday, the prospects of jumps racing taking place in Britain on Saturday was handed a further boost courtesy of Musselburgh's general manager Bill Farnsworth.
The track is scheduled to stage the rearranged John Smith's Cheltenham trials day and Farnsworth said: "If the forecast is correct we will race."
