Battle returns to Ireland for Silver Stakes clash

GLOBETROTTER Lines Of Battle returns to action in Ireland for the first time since last October in the 1m2f Listed TRM Silver Stakes (3.50), and is set for a fascinating clash with Irish 2,000 Guineas third Trading Leather.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained three-year-old finished seventh in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf last November, then went to Meydan and won the UAE Derby in March before returning to America for his last start when seventh to Orb in the Kentucky Derby last month.

A general 16-1 shot for the St James's Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot, Lines Of Battle's sole turf win was at 6f, and O'Brien said: "Lines Of Battle has been in good form since he came back from Kentucky. We're going to learn a lot more about him as it will be his first time over the trip on turf."

For Trading Leathers, his performance in the race will influence his next target, as trainer Jim Bolger said: "He's very well and depending on how he gets on he will go for either the King Edward VII Stakes or the Irish Derby."

There is also Flat action at Nottingham plus jumps racing from Perth.
