Bangor abandons chases for Friday fixture
BANGOR has abandoned the two chases scheduled for Friday's meeting to give the fixture the best chance of going ahead.
Officials have taken the decision to run a hurdle card plus a bumper on the innermost track at Bangor, with one of the races set to divide to make six races.
Rain had already made conditions heavy on the chase course with up to 14mm more expected through Wednesday.
Clerk of the course AndrewTulloch said on Wednesday: "The river is high and there is rain forecast today and overnight. We're giving the meeting the best possible chance to go ahead.
"The chase course is already heavy - we're being proactive and that's the reason why we've taken this choice. One of the hurdles races will be divided."
On Wednesday, the going on the hurdles course was described as good to soft, soft in places.
