Long Run was cut to 10-1 (from 12) for the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival by Stan James after beating his old rival Rubi Ball by  two and a half lengths in theGroup 1 Prix Maurice Gillois.

Handy throughout the 2m 6f chase under David Cottin, Long Run moved smoothly up to join long time leader Rubi Ball rounding the final turn before taking control at the last.

Since being bought by owner Robert Waley-Cohen in the summer of 2008, the son of Cadoudal has amassed over €680,000 and been the winner of five Group events and he has never been out of the first three in 12 outings.

Macaire described Long Run as: "Always being out of the ordinary since the first day he joined my stable."

Waley-Cohen added: "He has to be something special and is the first horse to have won both the Cambaceres and the Maurice Gillois. In a few weeks time, Long Run will go and join the stable of Nicky Henderson. His next race is the Feltham on Boxing Day and then hopefully the RSA at Cheltenham. We are now going on to even greater glories."

Cottin added:  "It's always a pleasure to ride a horse as good as Long Run."

Auteuil: Prix La Haye Jousselin (Group 1) 3m3½f

REMEMBER ROSE landed back-to-back wins in the Group 1 Prix La Haye Jousselin in the hands of Christophe Pieux.

The six-year-old made virtually every yard of the running in the 3m3½f chase and held on well on the flat after the last to beat Princesse d'Anjou by five lengths. Favourite Mid Dancer fell at the big ditch on the far side when making a forward move.

Remember Rose is the outstanding chaser in France but he will not be crossing the Channel to enhance his reputation.

His Swiss-based owner Ernst Iten said: "He loves Auteuil and knows where the winning post is."

Trainer Jean-Paul Gallorini added: "For the moment he remains in France. The English have tried to buy him but he always whistles when they come to see him at my stable."

Winner of the Gras Savoye Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris in June, Remember Rose was put out to grass for a holiday and it took the horse a little time to get the horse back into top shape.

Gallorini, who was winning his 30th Group 1 race over jumps added: "I knew he was back to his best for today's race and I told Christophe (Pieux) to do want he wanted with him today and I gave no orders."

Princesse d'Anjou ran her heart out with Philip Carberry and was putting in her best work at the finish. It was her best effort since the mare won last year's Grand Steeple-Chase de Paris.

Owner Jean-Paul Senechal was delighted. He said: "Her run gave me a lot of pleasure. She made no faults and never had to be touched with the whip. She now goes for the Prix Georges Courtois later in the month."

Auteuil: Racing Post Prix Cambaceres (Group 1 hurdle) 2m2f

THE Racing Post Prix Cambaceres went to the outsider Prince Oui Oui in the hands of David Berra.

They ran on the best after the last and beat Kauto Star's half-brother, the favourite Kauto Stone, by a length and a half.

Christophe Pieux

Once again the JPMcManus-owned Temple Lord ran below expectations and was pulled up before the finish.

Pieux was always to the fore on Kauto Stone and the pair looked the likely winner's before Prince Oui Oui appeared on the scene.

Winning trainer Philippe Peltier said: "He wasn't really would up for his last race but was spot on today."

Pieux was unhappy with himself over Kauto Stone's defeat and said: "I blame myself for his defeat and should have kicked on between the last two hurdles and not waited so long".

Part-owner Louise Kemble added: "That's it for this season and he might go home to the Elms Stud for a rest before coming back to France next season."
