Australia: Trainer Chris Waller has retained his Sydney trainers' title with 124½ winners for the 2011-12 season, which ended on Tuesday at Kembla Grange.
Waller won his first New South Wales metropolitain title, to use its official title, with 117 in 2010-11. (Dead-heats count for only a half-win in Australian statistics.)
Hugh Bowman, who has won many admirers on two separate stints in Britain, won his second Sydney jockeys' title with 92½ victories. He was crowned with the season's top honour for the first time in the 2008-09.
Other notable season highlights included trainer Gai Waterhouse's dominance of the BMW Sydney Carnival, particularly two-year-old Pierro claiming the juvenile Triple Crown, and top mare More Joyous taking out three Group 1 races during the autumn.
