KIEREN FALLON was at his brilliant best in the opening race of the St Leger meeting when getting better of the Frankie Dettori-ridden Pleasant Day with victory on 3-1 favourite Audacity Of Hope.
Fallon anchored the Charlie McBride-trained Audacity Of Hope towards the rear of the field in the early stages and, despite encountering a rough passage when coming to challenge, the son of Red Ransom found plenty to cut down Pleasant Day (10-1) with 25-1 outsider Farmer Giles back in third.
Fallon, who recorded a hat-trick at Folkestone on Monday, said: "I was in a bit of trouble early but he got me out of it. He's a nice horse."
McBride, who trains the winner for Four Winds Racing, said: "He [Fallon] was keen to ride. He [Audacity Of Hope ] has pulled hard, so we had to take him back and get him settled. He works well at home and I've always thought a lot of him."
