Momentary bids to get back to winning ways
THE Queen's Momentary will bid to get back to winning ways when she takes on seven rivals in the Listed EBF Stobart PJA Testimonial Lyric Fillies' Stakes (7.30pm) at York on Friday evening.
The Michael Bell-trained three-year-old narrowly denied Oaks runner-up Shirocco Star at Newbury in May but she failed to make her mark in Grade 1 company in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot last month.
The 5-1 chance is back down in grade and will be ridden by Hayley Turner. She will face the long-absent Elas Diamond, Fillies' Mile third Firdaws and the Luca Cumani-trained Emirates Queen, who won her maiden last time out.
Bell said: "She's in great form and should like the track. Last time she got a bit bumped about, the ground was very soft and she didn't enjoy it."
There is plenty of action on Friday, with six meetings in Britain and two in Ireland.
Ascot hosts the most intriguing afternoon card, which includes Listed Woodcote Stud EBF Valiant Stakes (3.30), when Beatrice Aurore is fancied to return to winning form for trainer John Dunlop.
The rest of Friday's afternoon action comes from Southwell and Thirsk and Chepstow, Down Royal, Newmarket, Wexford and York take centre stage this evening.
