The breakthrough victory was a much-deserved first Group 1 success for the consistent Brazilian Classic performer, who had previously finished a close third in two-thirds of the Rio de Janeiro Triple Crown.
Champion trainer Venancio Nahid, who was winning his fourth Grande Premio Sao Paulo in the last five years, said: "Invictus is a very honest horse. We rushed his training up a bit for the Rio Classics and he still ran great finishing third both times.
"Having nearly 35 days to prepare for this event was a big factor and the colt deserved a victory of this magnitude."
Sunday's career-best victory represented Invictus's second win in nine starts.
A crack at a major international event is under consideration as the next possible target for Invictus.
"We will discuss with the owner Alex Arcangeli and trainer Venancio Nahid a possible shot at the GP von Baden in early September at Baden Baden," said Eduardo Guimaraes of Belair Stud, racing and breeding manager for Beverly Hills Stud.
