The Lark forced to miss Champions Day

THE LARK has been ruled out of the Group 1 Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot this afternoon, as the Michael Bell-trained filly is in season.

Winner of the Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster last time out, connections will now wait a week for the Prix Royal-Oak at Longchamp.

Bell said on Saturday morning: "Unfortunately she is in season and we have decided not to take the chance. She has the option of running in the Prix Royal-Oak next Sunday.

"Whilst we were keen to run today, we have an alternative Group 1 round the corner. She's in very good form it's just unfortunate that her cycle has clashed with this race."

Favourite for the Fillies & Mares Stakes is Oaks winner and St Leger runner-up Talent for Ralph Beckett.
