No Arc prep for Meisho Samson
JAPANESE Arc hope Meisho Samson will not have a prep run at Sunday's crucial trials meeting at Longchamp.
After the nation's superstars Deep Impact and Heart's Cry made the places in the Arc and King George respectively in 2006 without a previous outing, Meisho Samson's connections had voiced their enthusiasm about the prospect of a run in the Prix Foy.
However, the five-year-old, based at Mikel Delzangles Chantilly stable since August 20, may have a racecourse gallop instead.
Aki Akatani, director of the Japan Racing Association's Paris office, said: "Meisho Samson will not run in the Prix Foy as it is only three weeks before the Arc and that is too short a time. He may well come to Longchamp for a gallop before the big race."
The son of Opera House, a dual-Japanese Classic winner in 2006, has won four Group 1s at home and will be ridden by Yutaka Take at Longchamp. Meisho Samson is a 25-1 chance with British bookmakers.
