Landmark winner for popular jockey Best
GERMAN jockey André Best rode his 1,000th winner when partnering 4-1 shot La Padrona to an easy four-length success in the eighth race on the all-weather track at Dortmund on Sunday.
Best, who turned 43 last week, is one of the most popular lightweight jockeys in Germany and is currently attached to the Krefeld stable of Mario Hofer.
Among his numerous big race wins are two German classic successes in 1993 for the late Bruno Schütz, to whom he was apprenticed.
